Organizing

It was December 2009, and the holidays were fast approaching.  My house was a complete mess, and I was scheduled to have new bamboo floors put down in less than 3 days.  I cleared one bedroom of junk, and got started with my office when I realized, it just wasn’t going to happen… I needed help!  I needed Becky!!

We talked through what my needs were. On the hands-on day, Becky came to my house at 8:00 a.m. sharp and we began sorting things into discard/recycle/donate/ shred/keep. We worked together to sort through everything in the room, and four and a half hours later, we were done clearing out the office!

I had a neatly organized box of papers to keep, half a dozen big bags of stuff for recycling or shredding, 7 grocery totes full of books to donate, and a couple of bags of other stuff to go to Goodwill. She even sorted through my old CD collection for me and organized all of the CDs into a binder to free up shelf space.

The flooring guys came the next day, and I had new floors, a clean office, and much less clutter for the new year! Everyone just raved over the results. Thank you, Becky!!

I asked Becky for help with my clutter problem on the kitchen counter and dining room table, which were filled with “to-do” projects. I thought keeping these items out would remind me to do them, but keeping them out did NOT make me take care of them faster. This visual clutter resulted in mental clutter because every time I walked past it, it was a constant reminder of projects I kept putting off.

Becky gave me several suggestions, including one that she herself uses to keep track of “to do’s” while avoiding the clutter. After thinking over the alternatives, I implemented the one she uses herself. It was simple and fast. Now it feels so great to have bare counters, and I am motivated to keep them that way!

Website Consulting

Becky is so easy to work with – kind, enthusiastic, and fun! I was very impressed with how professional and thorough her feedback was. Her evaluation document was very easy to follow along, with her suggestions highlighted in different colors for different purposes, so that it was clear to see the specific sections of text under discussion.

I consider myself to be a fairly good writer, but Becky found lots of ways to improve and polish my website. I love how she made me think about and re-examine my word choices and the unspoken assumptions behind them.

This process of examining the details of my site made me much more clear and focused about my audience and the message I was conveying to them. I would highly recommend website consultation from Deep in the Heart Of Tech™ to anyone who wants to make their website shine with professionalism.

- Carol, a fellow Professional Organizer and local small business owner

Becky did an informal review of my revamped website as a professional courtesy to a fellow organizer.  Even though she said it was a ‘quick review’, she provided an easy-to-read report of suggestions and corrections, which helped me to feel confident that my website is professional and error-free.  I look forward to working with her on many more projects.

Business and Technical Writing

Becky was a co-worker who would often take it upon herself to document important information so that it wasn’t just in someone’s head but down on paper for all to access. She made a point of clearly stating the information and keeping it updated and useful.

Becky’s business and technical writing definitely benefited the entire team. It provided a legacy of clear, easy-to-follow documentation, and made projects run more smoothly and result in higher quality.

- K.H. (former co-worker at Dell)

When faced with the task of revamping my resume to reflect less technical jargon, provide more information that would be useful to would-be recruiters, and make it look more professional overall, I contacted Becky.  She met with me to understand my needs and the profile of the type of position I was looking for.  She then provided draft versions and worked with me on revisions until the final version was ready for approval. I am very pleased with how my resume looks today. Becky – job well done!

I/T industry background

In the years that I have had the pleasure of working with Becky, the first thing that comes to mind is that she is always striving to improve herself and those with whom she comes into contact.

Her organizational skills and attention to detail are amazing. In the work environment, she kept all of her work organized as well helping to coordinate the work of those on whom her tasks depended. Even if someone else’s work was not related to hers, but was part of the overall project picture, Becky knew when the work was needed and what it would take to complete the job successfully.

In the world of technology, when someone writes code or documentation, it always needs to be reviewed by another engineer as assurance. Becky is the one you wanted for the review, because she was so thorough and detailed.  Also, when documenting what was accomplished, you wanted her to do the explaining because she had a way of conveying the accomplishments in terms that both technical and non-technical individuals could understand.

Her drive to succeed includes making those around her succeed. Whatever it takes to get the job done is what Becky is willing to contribute and she has a heightened sense of satisfying the customer. It was a significant loss to our company when Becky decided to venture out on her own. She is strong, dependable, and fun to be around.
